HONDA WRV : THE CROSSOVER, REBORN
HONDA WRV : If there’s anything as successful as extremism or stupidity in our times it is the compact crossover car business! Well, but this one’s for the good! The segment owes its popularity to the package factor which it offers, practicality of a hatchback, space of a mid -size sedan and presence of a mini suv. The promises here are only second to what religion and education promise when you are young however, the best part is some of the cars actually do what they claim and this has contributed to the massive success of the segment worldwide. The launch of Honda’s crossover or crossover-ish compact SUV is certainly going to heat up the market, the Honda WRV is nothing short of crazy awesome and is a total looker. Based on the Honda Jazz platform which has always been in the Blues, yes pun intended, this vehicle can put some of the compact SUVs out there to shame. Not only this, Honda WRV is the first vehicle which has been developed in the Honda’s India R&D facility.
HONDA WRV EXTERIOR
Honda has done a great job with WRV and it gives every other car in the segment a run for their money as every other crossover looks like the donor car, just like Hrithik Roshan is born as Hrithik Roshan to every Hrithik Roshan in Krrish series. For example, polo and i20 cross are basically donor cars with styling. But Honda WRV is different, the front looks very butch thanks to all-new nose and new flat square bonnet which includes flared fender chunky headlamps with led DRL’s. The thick bar of chrome helps to make a bolder and bigger statement.
What’s remarkable is, there’s no sign of Jazz’s sleek design save for the side profile. Only if you look at it from the sides the connect to Jazz seems obvious.
The plastic cladding and roof rails look practical and make the Honda WRV look more rugged and planted. What further adds strength is the three-dimensional design of tail lamp and tail gate, which gives the design a sharper and strong edge over the competitors.
On the inside Honda WRV is pretty lavish and the sun-roof can be opened with a single touch! An automatic climate control system , rake and reach adjustable steering wheel as standard ,new seven inch Android based infotainment system,touch based control for air conditioning system,Push start button,Two usb port and an hdmi port a power outlet and one and a half gigabyte of internal storage for the media system, phew! and the list goes on! Although the top petrol variant misses out on some features as compared to the diesel variant, like there’s no push start button, cruise control or smart keys.
The WRV also gets two colour options for seat fabrics and door pads, but the basic interior has been derived from the Jazz DNA.The dashboard does feel familiar in design with the jazz and even in terms of build quality, it feels top notch and solid. Overall, the interiors are a spacious delight.
